Solidified itself as a masterpiece when the last track reprises the melody from the opener.
Derek being 32 years old and writing the lyrics to "Clueless" adequately summarizes the issues with this album. It's a decent step up from their last LP, but it's hard for this to feel like something more than a band trying to cling on to relevancy in a scene they're aging out of (and refuse to mature in).
A bombastic concept-album, emo-punk rock opera with some of the best riffs and songwriting in years. Feels like worry-era Rosenstock mixed with some early PUP while still having an original sound; this will without a doubt go down as an all-time emo classic. The only flaw Combat made here is that this will be nearly impossible to top.
A very middling indie-pop-rock record. Jade is definitely a talented songwriter with a great ear for melody; there's a level of intimacy to the lyrics here that really helps elevate the project emotionally, especially when considered as a follow up to 2022's sore thumb. Lyrics have always been the band's strength, and on this LP Jade proves that he can still write about love and loss in a way few others in the scene can.
