This is certainly not their best effort, but there are some tracks that really shine. Obsession, Talk, Subhuman and Everyone Dies Alone are the highlights for me. Better than Mr. God for sure. It's clear they're going with a more straightforward approach, both lyrically and structurally, which isn't a bad thing, but we'll see how the rest of the album shakes out.
This was my first listen to a full HTS album, and overall I was impressed. Very competent, Every Time I Die esque, instrumentals and a super unique vocal performance from the singer. I really enjoyed all the key changes and the blend of cleans and screams as well.
Being generous with the 70 rating, as the instrumentals are fantastic as usual. The score is dragged down by the vocals, as James just flat out can't sing anymore, sadly. His vocals are fried and they need to get a new singer to bring some energy back to their sound.
It’s solid lamb of god but they still suffer from every song sounding really similar to each other. I liked it better than sturm but it’s not as good as anything from the first half of their career.
