Rosa Walton - Tell Me It's A Dream
85

more albums should have random christmas songs in them.

aespa - LEMONADE
75

there's a really good EP buried somewhere in here

Kim Petras - Detour
90

i can't believe she took a six year hiatus from music i'm so happy she's back.

it's such a cliche to call an album an artist's most personal one yet, but in this case it's a very apt description. aside from the lack of dr puke credits, the more emotional tracks like 'brutalist', 'jeep', and 'korea' are the real highlights and show how much more mature her songwriting has gotten since era 1.

also 'i like ur look' is SOTY for ... read more

Bleachers - everyone for ten minutes
55

genuinely what is the point of a bleachers album if there aren't any bangers. not a single song on this album is better than anything off strange desire or gone now.

LE SSERAFIM - 'PUREFLOW', Pt. 1
55

le sserafim once again struggle to execute a concept.

celebration was straight-up awful but the teasers for boompala were so tasteless and annoying, they actually had me a little bit excited for their take on a so-bad-it's-good, zimzalabim-type track. the hooks and macarena sample are earworm-y but the production and vocals are so flimsy, the whole thing just fails to make much of an impression. it's a shame since repetitive, borderline culturally insensitive songs are usually ... read more

Madonna - Madonna
80

she was literally the youngest person ever.

she’s a bit like a teenage mother in that sense given that she basically birthed the blueprint for all female pop stars with her debut while at the same time she’d spend the next 25 years maturing and improving upon this album’s foundations.

Prefab Sprout - Steve McQueen
89

the smiths if they were good

Yukari - Echo
90

A masterclass in atmosphere. Like a less creepy Yeule.

NMIXX - Heavy Serenade
79

not quite as good as their past few releases but still way above what most groups are releasing these days

NewJeans - Get Up
87

i listened to this in full for the first time in a while and was shocked at how well it aged (especially given the amount of groups that have tried to recreate it).

Namasenda - Limbo
80

sweden's apology for zara larsson

Billlie - the collective soul and unconscious: chapter two
65

meh. it seems a little underbaked for a full album but there are moments where billlie's brilliance as a group shines through.

MARINA - The Family Jewels
96

this is lowkey one of the best albums of all time but why is the cover giving airbrushed barbara howard

Holly Humberstone - Cruel World
50

this is like if the colour beige were a make-a-wish kid that made a wish to become sabrina carpenter.

Kacey Musgraves - Middle of Nowhere
86

at first i was a little underwhelmed but the more i kept listening the better it started to sound. golden hour really was a once in a lifetime type of record but as far as her subsequent albums go this is probably the biggest move she’s made to get out from that record’s shadow. i feel like this would have been the sequel to pageant material had she never made golden hour and spent her next two albums trying to follow it up.

Jessie Ware - Superbloom
70

Superbloom is a slightly worse rehash of That! Feels Good!, which was already a slightly worse rehash of What’s Your Pleasure, but it’s still far from unpleasant.

ILLIT - MAMIHLAPINATAPAI
45

is there a gas leak in the hybe building because nothing that company has released all year has been good

Madonna - Remixed & Revisited
85

soy latte so good i had to ride it

TOMORA - COME CLOSER
90

in the stripped club. straight up "björkin it". and by "it", haha, well. let's just say. My peanits

Yves - NAIL
90

it's genuinely impressive how even the downtempo stuff is good
