This feels like a continuation of We Are Him, with a couple bits of later grandiose Swans sound sprinkled in, for example on No Words/No Thoughts and Eden Prison. Maybe it's not as beautiful or exciting as the albums that would come after it, but it's still a really fun listen.
Fav tracks: Little Mouth, Eden Prison, Jim
It's pretty good, but gets corny at times, the flows are pretty boring and it's just pretty easily his least interesting album
The christmas session part of this is a 10/10, every song on that is just amazing, especially Push Th' Little Daisies and Albino Sunburn Girl. The live show is a bit weaker, has some misses, but overall it's still really good
THIS IS WHAT ART IS FUCKING ABOUT! It's unapologetic, unfiltered, intense, even grotesque at times. Is it easy to digest? No. Is it something most people will enjoy or even appreciate? Hell no. But that shows the beauty of it. Even something as strange and ugly can make me and many other people FEEL THINGS. I genuinely think this album shows why art is such a beautiful thing.
I found out about Allarme because of the tour they did with Shearling last year and have since fallen in love with them, and especially Bruit and i am going to see them live again soon (coincidentally two days after i see Shearling again).
So this album is one of my favorites of last year, and honestly one of my favorite albums in the genres of noise rock and post-punk. All of the songs are diverse, catchy, with great guitar playing and some sax to spice shit up. Just in general an amazing and ... read more
In a way this album feels like it was made by a really good AnCo copycat. It's good but it just feels... underwhelming? These are all just rehashed ideas from Strawberry Jam and Centipede Hz but less captivating, and coming from a band who's been reinventing themselves with every album before this, it's just not up to standard. Overall it's a good album but a mid one in context of it being Animal Collective.
Sung Tongs was already one of my favorite AnCo albums and this just improves it on all fronts. It's such a warm, psychedelic, passionate performance. They somehow achieved to make it just as, if not more trippy than the original Sung Tongs and the added tracks are all amazing too.
Fav tracks: Kids on Holiday, Visiting Friends, Mouth Wooed Her, Prospect Hummer, Toovin
This is actually the perfect blend of beauty and heaviness, the walls of guitars make you feel like your ascending and being crushed at the same time. A genre defining sludge album and one of the best metal albums ever made.
Fav track: The Lasting Dose
Definitely the weirdest anco album, but has some really lovely songs on it. Unlike Danse Manatee this doesn't feel unfinished and is more fleshed out. I love the tribal atmosphere this album has, feels really wild and animalistic but can be very beautiful in some moments.
Fav tracks: Slippi, Infant Dressing Table
Anyone who says the recording quality makes Earthbound worse is plain fucking wrong, this is awesome
I think this album is very interesting but poorly executed in some places. Most of the long songs tend to drone on and not really go anywhere and the short ones often feel like unfinished great ideas, the biggest offender of that is Runnin' the Round Ball that entire song is a buildup that just ends where there should be a climax. Though the songs on this album that work usually work really well, especially Essplode which feels like a song from Spirit They're Gone which is my favorite ... read more
This is an amazing pop rock album, but not a great Ween album. White Pepper is a very fun album with many bangers but it just doesn't feel like Ween that much, not brown enough.
Fav tracks: Exactly Where I'm At, Bananas and Blow, The Grobe, Falling Out
