White Pepper is hardly a step back for Gene and Dean. More like a lateral. Ween has taken on 70's prog, Prince, country, and now arena rock. And they've managed to do all of it well.

Ween's music rewards multiple plays and White Pepper is ample proof.

White Pepper, their seventh studio album, could be Ween's most accessible release yet.

“White Pepper” is an anomaly in the Ween Cinematic Universe, in that it’s probably the most normal album they’ve made. Most of the weird Weenisms that I’m used to are pretty much not all that common here. Despite that, however, “White Pepper” manages to be an insanely amazing experience, and some of the most fun I’ve had in their discog. One amazing collection of songs by Ween, so many wonderful styles explored here, specially the heavier ones, which I hadn't seen Ween do yet, but they do it so well. It is a less cohesive and more "normal" album by them, not really going into the weirdness they sometimes had, but it is still a really nice listen that seemed like it was made for me, really good stuff. Light 9.

Favs: Exactly Where I'm At, Flutes of Chi, Even If You Don't, Stroker Ace, The Grobe

This is… not that weird? It’s honestly a pretty normal alt-rock album by Ween standards, but honestly their pure excellence as songwriters might shine brightest here. Crazy consistent and lots of incredible tracks here, when you look past the comedic and ironic aspects of Ween there’s actually a lot of genius happening.

Every song on here meets the same quality, really solid album with a cool cover
