andrew and the band do justice to some of my favorite deep cuts!!!!!! i was so happy to see nicotine armoire included
i like it a lot better than rock music and with this release i can say im really intrigued for the new album. really hope each song has a little bit different vibe a la brat but less dance pop more indietronica
for fans of: girl autism, julia wolf, ninajirachi, bringing a lowkey concerning vibe to the party while still maintaining the carefully curated energy, chewing on ice cubes and ending texts with lol
for fans of: showtunes, alicia keys, old p!nk, casual alcohol abuse, edgy disney princesses, christmas music, lowkey christianity
second listen while high review: ok ok its growing on me
first listen review: (original score was 60) im super disappointed im ngl. i really wanted to like it more than i did but the majority of the songs on the album sound like half baked outtakes from her last album. there's some interesting moments but mostly right when the songs start to take off/experiment they end. i like completely tuned out a few songs toward the end and i even think the lyricism is repetitive across tracks and ... read more
loses a little momentum in the back half but the run from london song - ipod touch - fuck my computer is so so so good. the sounds tickle my brain
Beautiful lush soundscape that feels like an overcast day and introspection
I know it's Sabrina's thing to be all "I hate men and I love them" but man thematically it's a little exhausting to listen to after a while. I felt like the production wasn't as clean as short n sweet and her vocals got drowned out by lackluster instrumentation on some tracks (my man on willpower is an example). I liked the more disco-y tracks like house tour and when did you get hot? Overall it's a fine album but nothing groundbreaking.
i do wish that the rollout would have been done differently since it's always a little bit disappointing when an EP releases and there's only 2 new songs to hear in the project, but love the project overall. kilo kish always kills it.
critics are absolutely not giving her a fair chance because this is such a fun album. i wouldve loved it longer but i think as it is, each song offers something distinct in its sound and justifies being there. i loveeee sugar water cyanide, super high energy fun hyperpop track, but also some notes of madonna & cascada. rebecca black never stop making music!!!
i havent listened to most of gaga's discography but i did really like the fame and still do. i wish mayhem was a little more groundbreaking - after a while, even though the songs dont necessarily sound all that similar track to track, the song structure starts to feel predictable. the best moments are when she gets a lil funky and unpredictable with it like with killah
its solid and has some really exciting moments - i like the blend of recorded instruments & raw screams with the familiar electronic sound. as someone who has followed baths' music since 2013 or so, my biggest critique of this album is that it's Too familiar. i think it's the chord progressions, especially of the vocals, that make me feel that way.
my favorite tracks are eyewall, chaos and the sound of a blooming flower
recommended album for anyone who likes imogen heap, utada hikaru, the wii, liminal spaces, and pina colada sobe elixir
i think this is a strong album. i loved the singles so i was super excited for the full length project. i've listened to it all the way through about 5 times now and while i enjoyed the listen all the way through, it didn't capture me the way it seems to have captured most people. after the first 3 tracks, which i love, everything else blends together a bit besides when i tune back in for the singles i grew to love. i think i'll always enjoy magbay songs more in the ... read more
perhaps better to think of this as a B side to Boom. Done. or a mixtape rather than a cohesive record. i really loved boom done so i was fairly excited for this. i'm a little disappointed by the lack of cohesion and probably won't be revisiting as a front to back listen very often. despite this, i can appreciate the explorative nature of this album.
definitely prefer the production on this record vs. watch out! as they bring back that really great clean guitar sound i love from the debut. i also feel they explored more structurally with this one vs. watch out, although it's not quite as free form as debut - which is both positive and negative imo because the songs are catchier and work better as standalone tracks but it's not as captivating as a front to back listen as debut for me. the vocals are stronger on every record, ... read more
