Picture this experience: you're at a train station waiting to board a train going from Tokyo to Aomori. The train ticket only costed 22 yen, not as bad as other stations you've been to. There, you patiently await the arrival of the train. You hope it comes fast, since you have family members to visit. Eventually, you realize the train is 20 minutes late from when it should be arriving to pick you and other citizens up. What caused this phenomana? Did the train burst into flames? Was the driver ... read more
This is how you know I'm running out of ideas. My thought process while picking this out to play went like this:
"Ugh, I'm so bored. I want to listen to the new The Smile album but I want to get myself familiarized with their discography first. Not just the band, but Radiohead as well! And that new Glass Beach album sounds phenomenal, but I need to hear their debut first. Of course, I have over 100 albums in a list that I'm really wanting to check out, but I don't feel like checking them ... read more
One year ago today, boygenius announced their debut album "the record" and released these three singles to go along with it. Man, you had to have been there! All the sad indie girls of the internet were in shambles, and I don't blame them at all. When the actual record turns one, I'll have no clue what to do.
This song is an absolute banger, one of my favorite title tracks, but that's not why I'm reviewing this. I'm just coming on here to say that today's my one year anniversary of being on this site! On this day in 2023, I created this account with no goal in mind but to share my positive hot takes. One year later, this site has a more important meaning to me then ever. It's become a place where I can befriend people with similar taste as me, put all my hidden and visceral feelings into words, and ... read more
Well-produced power pop with the controlled chaos you get from normal indie rock. While most of these tracks sound like just casual songs from their genre, there are three incredible standouts that really defied any expectations I had for this. Also, I can heavily relate to track seven because I have a really bad scab-picking habit. Yeah... great album though.

The recent houseification of the pop industry is really changing the game. I'm very satisfied with this possible new direction from her.
While this EP contains good ideas and moments, it proves to me why adding screamo to soft pop/folk instrumentals, or any instrumental designed to be happy, usually won't work. The melodies from each song are extremely good and addicting, but are nearly ruined by the screaming vocals. Oddly enough, listening to this with my shitty pair of headphones made my experience a bit better by pushing the vocals to the end of my right headphone. It sounded like a joyful indie pop band playing a concert ... read more
The fact that these mashups are even able to exist is just crazy. How do rap songs pair so well with folk beats? This is proof it can work. Check this out on YouTube if you have time! You'll be amazed, and maybe a bit bewildered.

And right when I thought the begining week of 2024 releases was going slow, this lovely album appears to save the day!
The unlikely blending of genres that seemingly do not work together, but somehow do pair well, continues. This time we have noise pop, the subgenre branched from shoegaze, and bitpop. Surprisingly, the blend is performed incredibly. While the mixing/mastering's a bit off, it doesn't supress my enjoyment of this, unlike the other 2024 album we just heard. doefriends is just ... read more
Well, here's my first technical album of 2024 I've heard. Screamo and indietronica are two genres I never knew could properly work together. But this album proves that it is possible. With elements of ambient and post-hardcore along with this seemingly impossible genre blend, dutchmasters take us on a haunting trip of our mental well-being. The vibe is dark and eerie and sends chills down my spine just thinking about it. However, I don't know if this is on purpose, but the mixing here is just ... read more
My Parenthetical Girls kick has been getting to me lately (I mean, do you see my pfp?), so I figured it's time to finish their discography. Privilege, their final major project, was split into five parts. The first part, the one we're covering, is called On Death & Endearments. This part sees the band rounding out their sound into a more rough, glitchy force to be reckoned with. While Entanglements is my favorite release from them thus far, the constant chamber pop elements got a bit boring ... read more
Brain cell-destroying bubblegum bass. In any other case, I'd enjoy this, but this? Hell no. Feels a bit too tacky for me to enjoy properly. There are a few moments here I kinda danced to, but they didn't last long. It's like it's trying too hard to appeal to people who still aren't over their"alt-tok" phase in 2020. Hyperpop has made lots of improvements, and while I can enjoy the vibe of projects like this, I feel that this person is stuck in the past.

half-life, the new EP from digicore artist twikipedia, is the first popular release to come from 2024. Noticng the appealing genres this has, I just had to check it out! For the first release of 2024 I've heard, this EP is short and sweet, just like indie pop releases should be. Really appeals to my very short attention span. My main complaint? While I like that the songs here share simialar vibes, they sound almost too identical. Otherwise, pretty ok release.

My first review of 2024, and it's the largely unknown EP from Phoebe Bridgers! One of my main music goals is to finish the discographies of each member of boygenius.I started this by listening to Julien Baker's debut Sprained Ankle, and now we're checking out Phoebe's debut EP Killer. Well, this wasn't exactly her debut as there is a 2014 version of this, but we'll check that out later. This EP contains three songs that were reworked for their appearance in Stranger in the Alps. But for ... read more
Lo and behold, my last review of 2023! I hope this year was great to you all, because it treated me in a neutral way. There are great peaks and draining lows, but I survived them all. Here's to 2024!
My last review is going to be the album that got me into doing this Talk Talk discog dive in the first place; Laughing Stock. I was originally going to review the JPEGMAFIA + Danny Brown collab, but it wasn't hitting me tonight. We'll try it next year, don't worry! But then, I remembered this ... read more
So, I really did just binge this band's whole discography, eh? Well, for a collection of demos, this isn't too bad.
