Rouge Carpet Disaster is my favorite album of the 2020s so far. Needless to say, I was very excited for this follow-up from Static Dress, which felt like it took them forever to release. i’m a huge basement fan, i’ve loved pretty much everything they’ve done so far but something about this album feels really off. i think it’s the production. especially on songs like wired, where the vocals sound so off in the mix and way too quiet. idk, maybe my goats have lost the spark with this one…

nice vibes, everything sounds very calm and soothing. kacey's voice and the rest of the instrumentation are produced perfectly. however, these songs are a little too downtempo for me, to the point where they blend into each other / fade into the background after a while. i'm getting sad but hopeful vibes, but the overall listening experience is still sort of draining.
