Cringe AI man makes an actual tolerable song that actually doesn't sound half bad. Came into it only for Hikki and expecting the song to be ass, but I was left surprised with how much I liked it. Hikki being the standout is a given though, to be honest. But it's chill.
Even though I'm not very familiar with Quadeca outside of a few songs from select albums, some very old Soundcloud features, and his YouTube presence, it's still so interesting to see an artist that came from that point in his career make something like this. To me, he already shed that "YouTube Rapper" label a long time ago.
Maybe it's just because I haven't been following Ari's career pre-Sweetener(still her best album imo) or maybe I just don't remember anything I've heard after it, but this sounds pretty as hell. It's very dreamy and very pristine, and her singing sounds a little hushed to fit with the instrumentation. It's catchy enough to be a vaguely relatable radio hit. It's "classic" Ariana Grande.
The beat still carries though.
I'm holding out hopes that Victory will turn out like Good Faith and grow on me with time, cause the singles aren't really wow'ing me. I don't know how but this song sounds unfinished to me. The production is good but very one-note and unchanging structurally. I'm not familiar with Sam Gellaitry, but it's super hard for me to make out who sings what part on this song to a degree because the vocals are being swallowed up by the instrumentation.
