I mean it's an improvement over everything on his last album, but that isn't saying much.
Listened to the first 40 seconds.
Album of the Year.
EDIT: joke's aside, after letting this one cook in my brain for a bit, I still think it's great. It's one of Kendrick's weaker albums for sure, but a weak Kendrick album is still an incredible album.

I think the inflated score is due to the last song being received so poorly, and fans just being happy that this song course corrected.
Like it's not a bad song, but it's still weaker than the first two singles.
I think the message is great, but the song really isn't exciting. It sounds like it could've been a bonus track on Notes From The Underground, and that album came out 12 years ago.
How this didn't make the final cut in 2003 is beyond me. This is quintessential Linkin Park.
This DOES sound like Linkin Park. While it isn't a perfect song (its kinda generic), I can't deny that I've been beating the shit out of the replay button. It just sounds good, and Emily feels like a good fit.
The one thing that stuck out to me is that Ronnie mentions that he changed the game and brought rap into metal. I'd like to point out a couple of things.
1) That's not true
2) I listened to FiR around the time that happened and it was so horribly received that he shelved the idea for the next two albums. It was only when it became popular that he decided to jump on the trend.
Ronnie acts like he's a trendsetter, but 80% of the songs on here are just him stealing sounds from ... read more
This album just isn't good. Eminem has probably the stiffest flow I've ever heard. He's always done that thing where he does random pauses and weird pronunciation of words just to get them to rhyme, and I feel that it's at its worst in this album. I get that's always been his style, but even in the past, his delivery was much better than it is now. There are a few high points, but even the highs aren't that high. The whole album just feels like him whining about ... read more
Seeing Brostep and nu-metal next to each other in genres is easily the most terrifying thing I've ever read.
Literally the last review I left on the previous single was me saying “When is Ronnie going to stop doing the corny ‘Go!’ *shitty guitar solo* thing?”
Guess what he did
The song is horrible
I went out of my way to add this release to the HU page since everyone forgot it existed. I haven't. This shit is horrendous. I was 13 years old wondering what the fuck I was listening to when they released this.
This album is like if they told AI "Remix [American Tragedy song] with generic dubstep" for half the songs, and for the other half they just completely replaced the instruments with synths and shit and called it a day.
If you look up the definition of cash grab in the ... read more
It's good, but it doesn't hit as hard as the first album did. While not by much, the quality does dip a bit near the halfway point of the album. I also feel that the sound is dated overall.
There isn't anything actually bad in my opinion, but I don't see myself listening to most of these songs for years to come like I did with Survival Horror.
For now, it'll stay on rotation. Maybe it'll end up growing on me more.

I remember when this was released thinking that FiR was heading in a decent direction with their music. In my opinion, it's hard to pull off rap rock without it sounding like absolute garbage. This song is catchy and the chorus slaps. The weakest part is the rap, but I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as everything that was released following this song.
This was the peak of a roller coaster that would transition into a neverending drop.
It doesn't reach the highs of MOTM: EOD, but it only misses that point by just a bit. Still an incredible album.
