Looking back at his mixtapes this is honestly a pretty big upgrade in audio quality, but not a significant upgrade in overall rapping ability. Well, compared to his second mixtape which was clearly rushed, I guess it is sort of better, but that's only because he put low effort and time into it. It could've definitely been better.
While the first half of the album is more consistent, I personally enjoyed the second half more mainly because of the highs. If it wasn't for The 27 Club, I probably would've taken the first disc as my personal favourite here. The first one is a more political approach like his debut mixtape, while the second one focuses more on overall enjoyability and listening experience. My main dislike here is the length, but I guess for a debut album it's logical. Not that good to be that long, though.
The production here changed quite a lot, and this seems to be the start where he strongly develops out of the Devon Hendryx Cloud Rap era and becomes an Industrial and Experimental Hip Hop artist. Can't say this was better than his Cloud Rap projects, but this was the start of something new for him.
I guess his performance was pretty decent as he was still kind of experimenting with this hardcore style, so considering the circumstances, I can let it slide.
Well that's pretty much all I could dig out, since the overall consistency and delivery here isn't really good so you can't really give any compliments to this type of stuff, but I still enjoyed a few of these songs. That's pretty much the best thing I can say about this album.
