album was alright, instrumentally i liked it a lot but i cannot get over the painfully corny lyrics and whiny stereotypical "midwest emo" vocals. I really liked the song "will" because it leaned out of that sort of vocal style and was a lot softer. I'm also a sucker for triplets being used in music (especially vocally) and, as such, the screaming in "will" at around 4:40 was incredibly satisfying to listen to for me in particular.
i don’t even want to rate this because admitting that i’ve listened to this album feels more humiliating and torturous than being quartered and drawn in front of a live audience. it’s actual dogshit but at least it’s clear they all had fun making it!
a very comforting album to me, i used to listen to it when i couldn’t sleep for one reason or another at a really weird point in my life.
this album would be fine if i didn’t have the additional context of a lot of the people in this band actually sucking cheeks, unfortunately a lot of the art they create ends up feeling incredibly performative as a result of that. especially considering they’re supposed to be a “riot grrl” band, a feminist subdivision of punk, and yet they are anything BUT feminist or punk in their actions.
