Listening to this for the first time after loving 'Look For Your Mind,' and wow, they really do just have this sound down, and do it so well, managing to put their own stamp on this sound and take it to such beautiful heights.
The Lemon Twigs wear their influences on their sleeve, in fact they wave their influences around on a giant flag, but they pay such loving tribute to their influences with this album and create such a beautiful, fun, and sentimental album to listen to over and over again.
'STAMPEDE' was the first song of Genesis' that I'd heard, and from then this album was on my radar. After finally getting a chance to listen to it in full...wow. I expected the energy of 'STAMPEDE,' and that's definitely here, but damn, this album blends so many genres while delivering scathing social commentary and also being so enjoyable to listen and relisten to. Having listened to the 2023 record right before this, I was immediately struck by the stark change in tone of this EP, but it perfectly fits the subject matter, especially on records like "End of The World Pt. 1" and "Power." I've had "What's It All Mean" and "Chasing..." on repeat over the past few days. Christian's voice sounds like a young John Legend and his production gives me Thundercat vibes. What is there not to like?
