....so I'm an outlier here and I completely get why. This album was a complete tonal, lyrical, instrumental, genre-ational (probably not a word) shift in one thousand different directions. A solid follow up to Mister Asylum. My personal favorites were Posters, Seratonia, and for billy and least favorite send me an angel.
As someone who enjoys all different genres I even really enjoyed FWYT.
What an album! Lydia was my introduction to Highly Suspect and Ive been obsessed ever since! All songs (barring 23 for me personally) are straight gold. If I could put it straight in my veins I would.
Id rate this this album up there with Highly Suspects studio released albums, man is every song a banger! Gang Lion is one of my personal favorites not just from this album but of any HS song. Big Bear, Breaking Point, and The Alligator Song are also note worthy. This definitely has a more reggae/bluesy sound than more current HS music and man id love to see more of this
Some may view this as a "return to form" and while this may be more cohesive than the last 2 albums it doesn't quite hit that same level of raw rock & roll that gave Highly Suspect their name. There are many moments in these songs that almost touch that old classic HS sound but never really hit a peak. In particular Melatonia and Then Mickey 2 were the biggest disappointments.
