Melt My Eyez See Your Future is without a doubt Denzel's best project he's ever put out and it's not close. This thoughtful album gives us deep dives into his mind and mental health, which he raps and talks about very deeply. Even though I used to like it more, Melt My Eyez is still fantastic work by Denzel and a big W.
Doggystyle is probably Snoop's best work up to date and influenced West Coast Rap in the 90s a lot. Even though the tracks can get a bit repetitive if listened to a lot, the album doesn't drag at all and keeps its entertaining angle throughout the entire project. The old school beats also have a lot of charm.
Pink Tape was a very experimental step by Lil Uzi Vert, but a quite good one in my opinion. As a punk/metal fan myself, I thoroughly enjoyed the rock elements brought into this album with songs like Just Wanna Rock or Werewolf. Some tracks didn't quite land, but overall, most of Pink Tape is a fun and enjoyable experience.
I never understood the hate for the follow-up of Uzi's classic Eternal Atake. Sure, this album might not be as game-changing as projects like Let God Sort 'Em Out or God Does Like Ugly, but it's in no means bad in my eyes and there's still a lot of tracks I go back to frequently.
Stardust is yet another great album by Danny Brown. You can feel the confidence and ambition in his voice through every track on this project and it's refreshing to hear Danny rap so clean and full of life. This might honestly by my favorite album of his, aside of Atrocity Exhibition.
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is a great addition to Kanye's catalog and a good album overall. Although I think this album is really overrated, tracks like Runaway and Devil In A New Dress are definitely some of the best Ye has ever made. I genuinely love it - the Album just sometimes lacks replay value with about 40% of it.
Atrocity Exhibition is the perfect description of having a meltdown and going on a downward spiral. I feel like I'm too generous with my ratings sometimes, but there's simply nothing bad to say about this Album, making it flawless. I loved every track equally and always have a joy listening to this project.
17 is just a pure ride with the "What The Fuck?" Train. I honestly can't even tell if this project is serious or not. Either way, probably the worst trap album I've ever heard. Not really anything more to say here. That one point is because the first seven seconds of Kaliya actually sound alright, before the guy starts talking his blabber gaster again.
Tha Carter VI is honestly more disappointing than it is bad. After the heat that is Tha Carter V, I was extremely hyped for this project, but no track really stuck with me. About 90% of the album has fine songs, but no true classic or head-banger which has been found in every Carter so far.
? by X is a hard album to rank. It's notable that most of the songs on here feel unfinished. Although this was way more noticable on 17, having almost 20 minutes less runtime, it still can be a bit disappointing sometimes. However, aside from this fact, I truly love this project and it's gotten me through a lot of hard times. Good job Jahseh, fly high.
17 by X is an interesting project - for every amazing track on this album, there is another one equally as boring or slow. However, I do think the album has much higher highs than lows, which is why I still liked it overall. Notably, its swift 21 minute runtime makes it go by really fast. Fly high Jahseh.
CLOUDS (THE MIXTAPE) is one of, if not the best project Nate has ever put out. I've never understood the NF hate or people saying he's corny, when this guy is honestly just spitting and speaking his mind. I think that THAT'S A JOKE and JUST LIKE YOU aren't his best, but aside of those two, I love every song on this mixtape with passion. Also, the fact that Hopsin made a verse without profanity just for Nate is amazing.
Moments is the weakest piece of work Nate has ever put out. I'm a huge NF fan myself, so this is coming from pure honesty and I get it - making a good debut album is definitely a hard task, so I appreciate the effort none the less. However, I still don't like this project a whole lot.
Vultures gave me kind of an headache. I did not enjoy my listening experience with this album, so believe me, the 21 rating is generous. Each song pretty much sounds the same to me and to production is below average to straight up horrid at times. Also, of course, Kanye is a terrible person and shows it with pride once again.
Don't Tap The Glass is a fun little dance album by Tyler, spanning just over 28 minutes. Although it lacks a real story or concept, it isn't supposed to have one and that's what I like about it. Giving it a higher score than 80 is therefore a bit difficult, but nonetheless, I enjoyed the heck out of this album.
Balloonerism is yet another good posthumous album by the late Mac Miller. Although I don't think it's perfect since some tracks lack replay value, it's a great addition to Mac's discography and in general a good example of how to do posthumous releases right. I'll definitely give it a relisten at some point, since this definitely has potential of growing on me in the future. RIP Mac Miller 😔🙏
Let God Sort 'Em Out is the exact album I needed to jump-start me into 2025 with some great music. The return of Clipse was not something I'd anticipated, which made the release even more exciting. Furthermore, I actually think this might be the best project in their catalog, with Pusha especially cooking bar after bar and flow after flow. Definitely one of if not the best album of this year.
The Life Of A Showgirl is a pretty solid pop album by Taylor Swift. Although I'm not a big Swiftie myself, I wouldn't skip most of these songs if they came on the radio, Fate Of Ophelia actually being really good. I can't give this album a perfect score due to the fact I don't really listen to pop, but I respect it and it may grow on me.
Total Xanarchy is... interesting, to say the least. While I do think the album is a bit overhated, it's definitely far from good in my eyes. The lyricism is barely there, the songs feel uninspired, but the production is actually solid at times. Still, this project isn't anything I'm putting on anywhere, but I may take a relisten someday. Xan can do better.
Yeezus is an extremely chaotic and messy, but still quite good project by our regular target, Mr. West. This album is definitely the point where Ye slowly started losing his mind and becoming who he is today, but none the less, I still enjoyed a lot of the songs on it. It's nothing spectacular, but definitely still a cool piece of work.
