Yeah this album is super enjoyable front to back. It's giving tame impala mixed with some early instrumentals of blink 182 and the general punk scene. Love the passion behind the vocals and the cohesion behind the messaging. I just wish that tracks like BIRDS was another minute longer and that we had more tracks like that throughout the album, but overall; can't complain.
Love it, wish it was just a minute longer though. Love the blend of all the various sounds from each respective band/artist. Also the scream from poppy fading into Courtney's is bliss
Compared to his previous work, this is quite a boring side step by Apollo. Not only is it playing into the whole "elevator music" shtick, which quite a cliche at this point but production wise - idk it felt like half the songs were just small 2-3s loops? Felt more like a new artists' first project, not a veteran in the scene. I mean, it's nice I guess, but not what I wanted and what I did get; I felt like it could have had more work done. Great riffs, lyrics are lacking in certain aspects but overall really enjoyable album. A very valid follow up to their previous album, which gained them their reputation. Maybe at times, a bit too similar in sound but if all you wanted was more of "Tangaroa" and "Tū", then this is a great follow up LP.
A great follow up album to the band's debute LP "Eternal Blue" which showed all sides of the band's abilities, from gloomy horror sounds to proggy soft tone ballets. Tsunami Sea continues the formula in a similar manner, albeit a bit more experimental with tracks like "Crystal Roses" that features a drum and bass infused intro and "Deep End" which feels more like a 2000s pop punk track but heavier, however we've already heard similar sounds from them ... read more
Yeah this could have been better. The choruses just did not hit for the majority of the tracks. Honestly it feels like they released their best song as singles and called it a day. Still don't know how I feel about all the "popy" tracks, I just don't think Sam's got the best voice for it and it's ironic that this released on the same day as Spiritbox's new album, a band that notoriously is great at mixing heavy with soft.
Extremely bouncy and great production. An album with some similar themes but overall excellent execution. Unlike, Mr. Morales which was a lot more thoughtful, pretty much every track you can blast in the club or in the car. The only track I didn't really care for was "gnx" ironically. Loved the soulful sections, with what I can only assume are some random Italian opera samples - it worked well. Great features as well, loved sza on "luther" and "Gloria".
We're so back. The iconic electronic, atmospheric, drone sound of deadmau5 thumping for a solid 30 minutes throughout this EP and I couldn't be happier - this type of sound is peak 2000s house music. Unfortunately it's basically just one track with variants, so I wish there was more to this EP but hopefully an album is coming in the not so distant future with a similar sound.
Weaving in and out of genres like it's nothing, truly an experience. From pure old school death metal to Risk of Rain soundtrack sounding down moments. I absolutely love the influence and shift in their sound from their last LP. Even the Pink Floyd inspired section on Tablet II sounded incredible. The only reason it's not a perfect 100 is that I find it impossible to listen to these songs individually, maybe that's just the downside of any super progressive music but as a ... read more
Nothing worth writing home about. Standout tracks for me we're two-faced and emptiness machine, maybe causalty but the lyrics and delivery on that track by Mike is one big shrug. I don't really know what I expected because I knew we weren't gonna get any Hybrid Theory or Meteora but either way, I expected it to feel less vapid and polished. There are a lot of tracks that sound like previous work but their lesser selves, almost like a call back. Wouldn't have been terrible if ... read more
Eh, it's all over the place. I wish they would stick to a more consistent aesthetic in this album, especially given how much I enjoy their futuristic pop metal vibes but they push and pull on different ideas that just aren't cohesive in my opinion. One minute it's a distinct, modern BMTH sound that we're all quite familiar with at this point with something like "Kool-Aid" but then the next, we've got what I think imho is a filler, generic, stadium track in ... read more
