The instrumentals are good most of the time, nothing super special, but pleasant-sounding. The main problem with the album is the lyrics and vocals, as they are painful for me to get through for most of it. I feel like there's nothing super artistic going on with them, and they just sound like thoughts more than fully fleshed-out ideas about very serious issues, so they often just come off as whiny or cringeworthy as they lack depth when talking about extremely complex and deep issues. ... read more
though I don't enjoy his use of autotune sometimes on this project as it becomes grating at certain points, it's not bad by any means. there's some really good songs on here, idk why yall are hating so much.
Pretty cool stuff, cheesy at points, but it's fun, and I think that's what I usually come back to phoneboy for. I can see how they've evolved from their self-titled album and hope to see more progress and growth from them later on. I think they have some amazing potential that's almost about to be realized fully if they move in the direction of songs like Wayside and the self-titled track, and move away from the direction they took on most of their singles, which I ... read more
it's okay, I dislike most of drug bug's vocal delivery, and some lyrics feel a lot lazier here than on wetdream. The instrumentation is amazing and the album's highlight for me, but there are a few severely lacking aspects to it that make me bring down the score significantly.
I was honestly expecting more after their experimenting on MADLO with electronic influences. I have a few problems with the song that I’ve had since I first heard each snippet of it. Some lines feel really forced and I dislike Will’s vocal delivery at times. Besides that, I think it’s a really interesting song, I like the instrumental even though I was hoping for more at certain parts and the lyrics are good. I do hope this is one of the weaker tracks on the new album though.
Undeniably Will's magnum opus of an album. Cinematic, bittersweet, and heartbreaking, the album encapsulates the idea of young love and heartbreak. To truly be intertwined with someone, to be one with someone can only be a fantasy and a toxic fantasy. To love is not to be codependent, as much as the thought is tempting it's asking for both sides to be hurt. The one you see in the mirror, the one you've built perfectly in your head is not them. You can't hide behind fantasies ... read more
not his best for me personally, most of the remakes are worse than their original counterparts in my opinion
Peak CSH, I love space rock and though this lacks the concept of twin fantasy, I love everything else about this album. The synths are absolutely heavenly and it has my favorite song by them, The Ending of Dramamine.
now this is where it starts getting good, thoroughly enjoyed most of this
good but the quality and vocals really hold it back from becoming the masterpiece which is face to face
the first half is pretty good and then the second half comes and ruins everything for me.
