People hating. I don't care. I think this is the most conceptual Peggy album period. If I had to make an interpretation as to exactly what he's saying, I'd venture to GUESS this is about people in his life who greedily cling to him now that he's successful. I feel like this is an album about that phase that rappers who blow up go through where you are suddenly rich and that makes your existence in a more (for lack of a better term) “hood” existence impossible. ... read more
the first video was shocking and accurate. this one, in my opinion, is even more succinct and poignant. this is not "let's shock people with accuracy" type moment. this is a "this is how im feeling" moment. and the feeling is of a dismal disconnection of a dismal future.
people love a "dont give up" attitude. that, to me, is a fakeness you need to trick yourself into believing. this feels like an admission of defeat. and then it segways into unloading on an ... read more
Kanye is a myth to me. He's a story told through art. Like a movie. however the yitler arc made it all real. His albums still kinda function as window into this fantastical character though, this one especially. for that reason i still have a soft spot for it. I swear this man is one of the most interesting artists in history. This album feels so epic.

Like the things that were funny about kanye are no longer funny post yitler arc and all thats left is this super serious interpretation of this album and that's not really that interesting.
I guess the downside of experimental music is that the overton window shifts, and it retroactively makes older experimental albums ... read more
Maybe its her supposed boy/girl music dichotomy, or just the concept album lover in me, but I feel like, for me Wallsocket is her Hellfire. It feels like an album that she will be living in the shadow of for a long time. (At least for me, it's super cool that tons of people seem to love this album and get to love underscores as a result).
