I should have listened to this album again before scoring it the first time cus I was way off. Björk stands as one of the most well known and crucial figures to art pop right besides Fiona Apple and Kate Bush. Her second album, Post, stands as her most accessible project to date. The album doesn't have as clear as an instrumental focus like Medula, Vespertine, or Homogenic, all of which experiment with a specific instrument or musical idea. Maybe if I had to choose one I would say this album focuses on synths, but they come with strings, horns, and various samples. Björk's singing isn't as off the wall experimental as she would be with her later projects, which definitely aids in the project's accessibility. The album opens with army of me, a song Björk wrote to tell her brother to leave her alone. The song sticks out to me most as the favorite song fo the album, using aggressive drums, vocals, and synths. I also feel like I should bring up It's Oh So Quiet, a cover a show tune. The song mostly uses these big horns that appear no where else on the album. It really stands out among the other synth and string focused songs on the album. The album cover is also quite interesting. At first glance, I thought Björk was standing in the middle of a very intricate set design, but looking at it now I realize she's just standing in front of street art collage. This album is probably the best starting point into her discography, and an album I overlooked way to much.
