While I think the intro was lacking, by the time it got around the middle it was quite enjoyable thereafter. The variations and playing with the mixing through the bit-crushing was pretty good for the most part, but I just wanted more of it overall aside from stagnant mids. Ends on a high though. This was good.

While I understand this EP is meant to be possibly an epilogue to Not For Radio’s earlier project ‘Melt’, which having not heard, I found this to be very good.

‘Kitten’ lulled me into a pop dreamscape that was so evocative of a siren call for falling in love. ‘Ache’ on the other hand is the opposite. Feeling more anxious and deflated, María feels so longing here, it does ache. The ending to this song is especially well crafted. ‘Living ... read more

For such an early recording (the earliest tagged long-form recording with hip hop right now), this is pretty damn good. The samples used were lovely for the most part, some not so much. Same goes for the flows, most were amazing. It does get a bit too weird in some places (which I’m sure a clearer recording would have made better), especially in the middle. It does start and end pretty great.

‘Jerkin' is just genuinely such a fun opener and sets the tone for the album so well. Even after all their success, they still won’t hold back with the commercially-toxic lyrics, plus its pointed attack at critics and haters is humorous as per usual from the group. ’Chewing Gum’ is another good song but lacks that punk power just a smidge, I feel. ‘Tiny Bikini’ is alright, not a fan of it overall, but it may grow on me over time.

After taking a 2 year break having no doubt been busy with the output that was Gizzard in 2022, I must say: this is already showing signs of growth from Joey. Keeping the same heart, but evolving the sound to be much more coherent. 'Rove' is just such a great vibe to have with 'Trade' unfortunately suffering a bit, but nonetheless is still creatively interesting enough to head bobbing the whole way.
