Really don't feel the hype and acclaim surrounding this one. While "Ctrl" steers away from the oversaturated, glossy instrumentation that seems to be a trend for current female R&B musicians, her recurring themes of insecurity are always addressed with the same pacing and angle. While some tracks nail it down, 50 minutes worth of the same pacing, flow, and tone gets redundant and uninteresting after several listens through.
