On my review for No Comment, i mentioned how i liked the songs that had more direction to them, but here i'm actually enjoying some of the songs that allow themselves to just meander for a bit. The whole point of some of the tracks is exploration of sound and texture. While there's plenty of growth needed in this field, it does come across as quite charming.
Part of my enjoyment here, might be due to the more relaxed atmosphere that many of the songs offer, very simple beats, but that allows some of the space between the notes to become as important as the notes themselves.
I'm also a fan of the range of sounds used, a decent collection of sampled acoustics like piano, guitar and harp, as well as more obviously digital sources like many of the drums.
The continued melodic theme from Blasphemia to Hamburger Hill was a nice touch and Daltenious' vocals were pretty decent too.
Priorities is probably my favourite song here. It has some genuinely lovely textures from the delayed guitar to the rich layered synths. I think the sparse use of drums also helped create an even more relaxed mood than on other tracks.
The parts of the album that didn't jive with me quite as well, were the ones that either broke away from the chill atmosphere with too much energy or by using more unusual texture choices.
Also, Fortune came out of nowhere and feels a little odd in the track list, but is pretty well done
