I can't lie, I expected more. This felt like it could be a real inventive project like I've never heard before, and don't get me wrong it's inspired, but her innovative momentum is slowing. Though not as much as her previous project Caprisongs, Eusexua offers a deluxe array of tracks sonically, but largely focuses on a consistent theme. I do hear some influences I did not expect, such as The Cranberries Dreams on Striptease, but this project is mostly sonically and ... read more
America's attempt at a Harry Style brings us another self centred project which is surprisingly a mixed bag. Mostly bringing backflips, bedazzled suits to match women's aesthetic efforts, and a massive overestimation of his vocal ability and sex appeall, Benson Boone has been making waves in the music industry, for the wrong reasons. Cringe, generic, irritating and basic are definitely words to describe parts of this album but when you look through all your grimace when listening, ... read more
The deluxe tracks read as a post-breakup response, and the bonus siren sounds adding context to the relationship falling apart. Keeping the Kid Laroi collaboration was confusing, since it now lands on the same cringe level as G-Eazy and Halsey’s “Him & I.” “TIT FOR TAT” works as a direct provocation since she knows he can’t reply, pretty standard but still hits a lil. After the “purple lace bra” copying Diet Pepsi accusations and ... read more
For the most part this album delivers exactly what you would expect: a run of generic, surface-level pop tracks aimed at preteens and casual listeners who want something in the background. Tate’s clearest inspiration since greedy has been Britney Spears, although the Pussycat Dolls feel like a closer comparison. The opening stretch is basic and at times irritating, though it does land a hazy dreamlike aesthetic.
The quality improves as the record shifts into a trap and dream-pop blend, ... read more

I wasn’t exactly craving a new Rosalía project after Motomami failed to align with my taste due to its occasionally abrasive production. Still, the early teasers for what I assumed would be an avant garde dance track named after the German nightclub pulled me back in. The lead single ‘Berghain’ blew me away ... read more
I feel out of my depth with this album’s genre because the lyrical focus simply doesn’t resonate with me. I understand why its themes appeal to listeners who share the artists’ backgrounds and experiences, especially the narrative of rising from disadvantaged circumstances as Black men. Still, the blend of semi self-conscious reflection, religious framing, and confident bragging feels familiar rather than distinct since I’ve heard that mix many times before. The ... read more
If you like colour, personality, vibrancy and originality…. Please look away. I don’t quite remember when I first got introduced to Gracie Abrams but I can imagine she quickly faded into the abstraction of millions of other young women who make the same music as her. Though the entertainment industry did not get this memo, as before it had even arrived she had connections left right and centre through her father.
As for the music, the album is unsurprisingly mediocre, but what is ... read more
It’s unclear whether the reason Melanie Martinez decided to hide herself behind a furry bug suit is due to shame, plastic surgery or other ‘creative decisions’, however the product of this era is undeniable. Portals is certainly an adventure of a project evoking an array of emotions such as being cast away to the dark corner of the lunch hall and server hopping on discord. This album truly wraps you in its bitterness, awkwardness and foulness until you want to stomp out that ... read more
Iconic down to the shade of green, A shining moment of Gen Z culture no one could miss. BRAT came with a bang claiming the whole summer as it's own, leaving a mark only few albums this decade have managed.
On the surface BRAT is associated solely with hedonism though on closer inspection it reveals it's more vulnerable and introspective sides, exploring topics such as purpose in life, inferiority complexes, heritage and even death. Though a surprisingly large portion of BRAT ... read more
