The Family Jewels has always been incredibly dear to me. The honesty, the tears, the need to be number one. This is the album that best showcases her eccentric, character-like personality. Starting strong on Are You Satisfied? talking about her need - no, DESTINY to become the greatest there is, this album is a beautiful portrait of what Marina's hopes, fears, dreams, needs and opinions are. Froot is the blood, bones, and crude honesty that Marina hasn't been able to replicate in these past years. Lying on a sweet spot - it's not trying too much, neither too little. Very clean bandit coded for reasons I'm not emotionally allowed to discuss. We all know what really happened here. It's still quite a good listen, though. Very soft and tender lyricism compared to her latest work. My highlight is definitely Believe in Love.

This album's heart belongs to the last half of the album. Everything coming before that feels like lyrics put together for the sake of feeling heavy. Otherwise I loved this album and listened to it on its release day cause I'm a good diamond.

A small upgrade from ADIAML but not at her full potential yet. It's not that I don't want Marina to be happy, but I wish she could feel comfortable again with her most vulnerable, authentic and raw self again.
