Pupil - Beautiful Machines
80

After the disbanding of the Eraserheads, everyone had their own thing. Raymund, probably the most successful, had Sandwich. Marcus had his solo works, and Buddy played bass for many different bands, including Hilera, The Dawn, and moonstar88. But, I would say Ely produced the best music out of all the other 3 Eraserheads members. His songwriting is simply impeccable. This album is more rock than the Eraserheads have ever been. To start off with the rating, let's talk about the positives. ... read more

IV OF SPADES - Nanaman
87

Nanaman (87)
holy paking shet, they released on a Wednesday again. anyways, back to the review.

IVOS goes for a more upbeat song, and just as I anticipated, i really liked this song. I hear a lot of influence from the band "Ginger Root" in this track. Aura was a good song, but I felt there was something kinda missing. But, this song had no spots (imo) that felt like it lacked anything. Good job blaster 👍

IV OF SPADES - Aura

Aura (82)
HOLY SHITTTTTTTTTTT IVOS COMEBACK LESSGO

On a more serious note, the song is pretty good. They do what they always do well which is great indie rock.

Eraserheads - Ang Huling El Bimbo
100

Best song of all OPM.

Eraserheads - Sabado/1995
90

Their most recent songs. It really shows that Ely Buendia never lost his songwriting capabilities with the band.

Sabado (88)
It's a great song. Great melody and good lyrics.

1995 (92)
Follows up a great song with an even better song. A wonderful sound, great lyrics, and an even better melody.

Rivermaya - Free
81

Album Rating = 80.7

Rivermaya's 2000 album is Brit-pop inspired. It was the first time a Filipino artist signed by a major label released an album for free, hence the album name. This is actually a really good album, besides the last track.

Faithless (91)
Omg, this is the best opening track of any Rivermaya album. This sound is very new to Rivermaya, and is great for showcasing how the rest of the album would sound

Serious Offender (87)
Damn, this song is great too

New rating = 73 (old rating 78.85)

Edited review: After some time, it actually got worse for me. 12065 is still the best song for me. My new main problem here is that half of the songs felt like they were written just to fill up the length of the album. The lyrics in some parts are kinda cheesy too. I can still say however, he is an outstanding vocalist. I just feel like this album wasted a lot of potential.

Old review: This is a modern love-pop album. Backup vocals are annoying to me in this ... read more

Rivermaya - It's Not Easy Being Green
85

Album Rating - 85.42
This album marks a new start. Bamboo left the band. Rico's voice, although I prefer Bamboo's, Rico's voice is also great. Although a core piece of the band left, that did not stop them from creating a great album. This is Rivermaya's best album in general. It does not have a single bad track. (Except for the filler "strontium 90")

Grounded Ang Girlfriend Ko (81)
A fun pop-punk sounding song. It's a good opening for the album.

Rivermaya - Atomic Bomb
71

This might be the most inconsistent album I've rated since "Fruitcake" by the Eraserheads. Having a 36 and 99 in the same album is absolutely diabolical work. Atleast the mixing/sound quality sounds better now.

Mabuhay (63)
Holy mid-sanity. Having one word in this 4 minute song is one thing, but having the instrumentals not even be good is even crazier.

Elesi (85)
It's a great song but hella overrated in general.

Rivermaya - Trip

This is the 2nd album of Rivermaya, and the best album of the trilogy between their self-titled album, and Atomic Bomb.

The Princess of Disguise (83)
The first song is a great opening to the album and most importantly a good song.

Hilo (86)
The first Tagalog song on the album is a great song. The song is haunting but triumphant at the same time.

Monopoly (82)
This song is a cool song, chiller but still energetic which is good.

Rivermaya - Rivermaya
79

The first album of Rivermaya is pretty decent

Revolution (70)
This song is a basic Rock and roll song with basic lyrics. Is it the best song? No. Is it a great opener? Yes.

Bring Me Down (84)
The second track is sung mostly by Rico Blanco with some parts sung by Bamboo. This song might sound basic at the beginning but damn it grows on you. It is a big mood-switch but is very appreciated.

Ground (72)
This imitation of grunge sounds forced. Ignoring that, it's an alright song.

Just reviewing the original songs to this album. (small room should not have escaped the studio)

Julie Tearjerky (85)
The melody and vocal performance are so good. The lyrics are okay/decent but nevertheless a great song.

Tamagotchi Baby (89)
A cool love song about a Japanese person creatively disguised as a love song for one's Tamagotchi pet.

Saturn Return (87)
One of the best experimental songs by the Eraserheads. The chorus is insanely catchy and the attempt at rap is actually ... read more

Eraserheads - Carbon Stereoxide

This is the darkest-sounding album yet. It is also their second-worst.

Ultrasound (69)
This is a great way to open the album, but it is not that great of a song.

Maskara (82)
Cool lyrics and good song.

How Far Will U Go (65)
I wish this song was good, but it is far too forgettable and plain.

Bloodtest (N/A)

Wala (45)
This is boring, terrible, and plain at the same time.

Dahan Dahan (68)
This would arguably be better if the vocals were less lazy.

Kahit Ano (77)
Pretty cool song. Catchy chorus and great lyrics. The Japanese at the end was funny.

Sino Sa Atin (75)
I actually enjoy this song, the lyrics are cool.

Ely Buendia - Method Adaptor

Now that I have had time for this album to sink in, here's my thoughts. Although every song on this album is great, it just felt like a compilation of songs rather than a cohesive album. That said here is a rating of every song.

Faithful Song (83)
This is very beatle-esque. Great lyrics and melody, although vocal performance-wise, he sounds lazy

The Eraserheads best album imo. Has their best sound/mixing.

Futuristic (87)
Great song. No flaws here. Creative lyrics too.

Kaliwete (96)
Very iconic song. Great everywhere. Melody is the strongest part here. Lyrics are weird but cool.

Eraserheads makes an all-english christmas album that has some of their best work but some of their worst. Pacing and length actually sucks here too.

Fruitcake (86)
Great, strong, opening song. Showcases Ely's superb songwriting even with a "weird "topic like fruitcake.

Shadow (71)
Just okay, pretty boring.

Flat Tire (75)
A Meh-sounding melody. Instruments carry the song.

Back2Md (78)

Sembreak (87)
No complaints here. A good song written by Raymond Marasigan, and great playing by the band.

Alapaap (91)
Legendary song. This "ode to freedom" was obviously a ode to drug use however. Still great songwriting as always from Sir Ely, and great harmonies.

Great song, however opening could've been better or more energetic considering that it is a semi-long opening at 45 seconds. Still a great way to get people used to the overall sound of UEMP.

Maling Akala (90)
Great all around.

Pare Ko (97)
