There are moments on this album where the production is truly captivating—grand, emotionally resonant, and steeped in a sense of nostalgia. Unfortunately many of the songs fall flat for me with their acoustic production; the majority do not stand out in any way. Some of the songs are fun and catchy but for me all of them sound too similar and redundant.
As a Meghan Trainor fan—perhaps more so than most, I know people have polarizing opinions about her—I appreciate her ability to craft catchy, self-empowering anthems.
