What. A. Comeback.
Gorillaz return to their best with an album reflecting the complete range of human emotions. The album centers around grief after Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett both lost family members in the last year. But the record successfully steers away from being a complete sob story while still having its heartbreaking moments.

I listened to this whilst doing Spanish revision. Unfortunately, most of what I learned in that hour was how to make new faces of disgust.
I was pretty suprised to see a 2018 Kanye/Cudi project get such a high rating. I remain suprised after listening to it.
A lot of the album has very strong production but is tainted by some pretty rushed lyrics/hooks where artists just shout the same shit over and over again, such as Pusha T on Feel the Love or both Ye and Cudi on Free, which does just sort of feel like a B-Tech Ghost Town. This has really grown on me. The album is structured brilliantly with great transitions between the songs and the lyrics themselves are also really good at times, perfectly combining with the psychedelic vibe of the album. A couple of the songs (End of Beginning, I Want Your Video) could be said to be out of place but I think they are essential to add some variation to the album while still keeping similar production to the rest of the album.
