Look, it’s a fun pop album. It’s not the deepest poetry, but it does its job: it’s a bop. Yes, it’s quite similar to Man’s Best Friend. And if you combined the two albums into one, cutting out all the skips, you’d have a perfect album. On its own, though, it’s still solid, with clever wordplay and songs that are a vibe. Fun lyrics fit her brand and it doesn’t feel forced like what we heard on The Life of a Showgirl.
Sadly, the album ended up being pretty disappointing for me. After the first four songs I thought, “Okay, this is a vibe.” But if she really worked with Max and Shellback, I expected the second half to lean more into pop. Instead, the production got noticeably more boring.
“Father Figure” was the one track that felt genuinely honest, I actually liked that one. She’s powerful, and when she leans into that, its an interesting perspective.

A beautifully written album, and honestly clearly superior to his previous work. This one just feels more genuine and honest, and it’s backed by amazing production and a really strong vocal performance.
The whole album is super cohesive, and a standout track for me is definitely Eleven Eleven.
Astonishing record. Amazing comeback from Lorde. I love that Lorde only puts out music when she has something to say. She really has epiphanies on this album. The songwriting is great, and the vocals are wow. I like it so much. Favourite Daughter, Shapeshifter, and Broken Glass are some of her best songs. This album feels bold and like she's truly being herself. And damn, the Grammys really snubbed it.
