J - DIL - DI - D - DILLA - J - DI - D - J - DILLA 🚨🚨🚨

From the first trademark siren, every donut oozes with personality, idiosyncracy and genius. The Undisputed King of the MPC leaves his indelible mark with a kaleidoscopic goodbye love letter to music. It's fun, it's funky, it's silly, it's sad, it's nostalgic, it's intense, it's lighthearted, it's wacky, it's beautiful, it's sweet, it's soulful, it's heartfelt, it's joyful, it's inventive and it's endlessly surprising. Dilla keeps you guessing at all times, every next track is a curveball, yet it all makes perfect sense. Simply the greatest beat tape ever made. Amazing and tragic that he made this from his deathbed. I'll come back to this masterpiece forever.

Highlights:

Stop - "You better STOP" - (MUTE) -

People - Tribal drum circle dream sequence. So cool.

Time: The Donut of the Heart - Gorgeous tribute to classic soul.

Lightworks - One of the most insane things ever put on record. A slew of future artists are born here.

The Twister (Huh, What) - Stevie Wonder morphs into complete madness.

One Eleven - Makes me feel like I'm falling in love for the first time in outer space. Just beautiful.

Don't Cry - Dilla lets the sample ride for a while and then flips it before your eyes, letting you watch every step of the process but you still can't figure out the magic trick.

Geek Down - Rocks hard.

Check out Knxwledge's Hud Dreems as a rightful spiritual heir.
