I feel like this album didn't get the love it deserves because there was wayyy too much hype for it to live up to. Only thing I'm overtly mad at is the misuse of the Rihanna sample on Flux Capacitor. Like come on the second flip at the back end was so fire and made the first flip feel soooo fucking weak IMO. Also Ezekiel's Wheel felt a little too long for my liking but otherwise I think everyone just wanted to be edgy or some shit like this is honestly a good album! It's one of those things ... read more
So impressed by this! Clairmont manages to have unique and interesting production without sacrificing bounce or groove. Love it love it
Jockstrap has done it again! They have captured a lot of what made 'Love is they Key to the City' one of my favorite projects of 2018 and expanded on it, creating a truly manic experience. I'm imagining that I'll listen to this a fuckton.
WASTED POTENTIAL.
I find it admirable how much DaBaby has worked this past year or so, putting out multiple projects and contributing verses to countless other tracks. However, it's almost as if he has saturated his own market. DaBaby pretty much came up with his own approach to the triplet, flipping it in a way differently from the typical hemiola way that most people do. This approach has resulted in a really cool flow that is really close to the way people talk (in my opinion). However, ... read more
The RINA project never really resonated with me when it released, so this new album feels like a huge improvement. Loved the mix of genres and styles and felt pretty refreshing after listening to some super bland pop before thtis. I especially enjoyed XS, Akasaka Sad, and Snakeskin (the Debussy? [Chopin? I can't specifically recall] reference at the end was super unexpected but felt super cohesive with the song somehow).
I'm glad this exists.
My favorite sax player playing with my favorite trumpet player playing with my favorite trombone player playing with my favorite bass player playing with my favorite drummer
Loving the sonic landscapes built on this record! Gil's voice blends surprisingly well with jamie xx's backdrops.
Really beautiful album that kept me thoroughly engaged the whole listen! I really love the attention to detail here, with every sound feeling like it truly matters. Although I enjoyed Sen's previous album Cannonball, I much prefer this new record (even if it is just b-sides). Fans of art pop and neo soul should definitely consider checking this one out!

I knew Who Carry's You wasn't a fluke! On the new ep, Lauren Auder sticks to a similar orchestral brand of art pop heard in its predecessor while still pushing forward artistically. Listen to this! Please!
this song rules!!!!!!!! Very very beautiful track from Jockstrap, sounds like it could have been on Love is The Key To The City to me. The sound design and overall construction of the song feels methodical and thoughtfully placed. Super pumped for new jockstrap in the future (oh god oh please give me more please)
YES. One of the best lineups ever, with some of the most exciting interactions in jazz history. There's so much to say and so little I can say. We catch Sonny at one of his best sessions, playing with a sense of freedom that isn't quite out of control yet, playing out of his mind. JJ sounds just as crisp and beautiful as a sideman as he does when he's a leader, and arguably wins every trading battle he's in. Monk, like Sonny, is playing free but less free than he will in his later years. ... read more
Glad to see that MAT isn't just trying to replicate the sound captured on 'Crumbling' and are continuing to explore different textures and sounds. They do however maintain the level of pristine and thoughtful construction that drew me to their music originally. Hoping for some sort of 2020 release (please [pretty please]).
