Gawk

The cowboy walks into a convenience store. His face is covered in dust, head covered by a 10-gallon hat, and the watch on his wrist doesn't seem to be working. He makes his way to the front of the shop, turning eyes towards his figure as he passes the lonely aisles. The cashier looks up.

"You got any smokes?"

She blinks, nods, then moves to the wall to search for a pack of cigarettes. Her eyes linger over the several different brands before landing on a pack of vintage cigarettes. Fitting. She grabs them, and brings them back to the counter.

"Perfect. Thank you, miss."

He places a $100 bill on the counter and smiles at the cashier.

"Keep the change."

He grabs the pack and walks out of the store as the cashier stares blankly at the back of his leather jacket. The other customers quickly return to what they were doing before. The cashier doesn't. She stares at the $100 bill in extended silence before she snaps out of it and puts the $100 bill behind the register.
