If I ever get married / have a commitment ceremony I'm going to slow dance to "Oblivions".

I've listened to "Not in Kansas" on repeat already like 10 times and it so perfectly describes the general malaise of late capitalism/the Trump administration

The singles ("UFOF" and "Cattails") are incredible.

EDIT: the front half is still stronger to me, but the bottom half still has its highlights, particularly "Orange" and "Jenni". The back half also contributes to the album's general summer-twilight ambiance and flows well with the rest of the album.

EDIT 2: OMG the second half has really grown on me over the last several listens, "Terminal Paradise" most of all

Edit: UFOF has def surpassed FotB for me after many listens to each. I like most of the tracks on FotB, but I wonder what could have been if VW hadn't given up the quirky specificity of Modern Vampires due to Ezra's "revelation" to write more direct songs after a Kacey Musgraves concert. Sometimes specificity and weirdness /is/ more direct. There's nothing that comes even close to "Hannah Hunt" or "Step" on this album. That said, it's still a solid album that ... read more
