ngl this album kinda surprised me. it’s shorter and more straight to the point, but it still sounds crazy in a good way, like loud guitars, weird samples, and then somehow it all just works. The Perfect example is Sin Miedo especially is wild but catchy.
i like how he’s trying new stuff and not just repeating himself, and some of the chill/emotional songs near the end actually hit more than i expected. not every track sticks tho, a few feel kinda whatever or like stuff he’s ... read more
I actually really like the direction here.
This is Prince going deep into jazz-funk, live instrumentation, and spiritual storytelling. It’s way less about radio hooks and way more about groove, musicianship, and message. Crystal Ball is another massive, sprawling project vault material, experiments, jams, older recordings, and you can feel that it’s less a focused album and more a content dump for hardcore fans. There are flashes of brilliance because, well, it’s Prince. Some grooves are wild, some ballads are beautiful, and a few tracks absolutely slap.
But as a front-to-back listen? It’s exhausting.
There’s no tight arc, no strong cohesion, and a lot of tracks feel like interesting ... read more
