"the cure" feels like the culmination of everything Olivia Rodrigo has been building toward as a songwriter. The lyrics are brutally honest, the production grows naturally with the emotion, and the central message, that love can't heal wounds you haven't healed yourself. It's her most mature, emotionally resonant song to date and, in my opinion, the strongest track she's ever released.
