Such a nostalgic album! The power of being a theater kid is truly unmatched! Little Voice makes me feel like I just moved to NYC with the intentions of becoming a Broadway star, and am living in a shitty apartment with nothing but my dreams and a love for the hot guy next door keeping me afloat. You know what? Maybe I will move to New York and become a big star! I'm inspired!

I know this is a hot take. A lot of people I know love this album--in fact it's one of my sister's favorites. However, this one just doesn't do it for me. I've listened to it front to back many times now hoping it'd grow on me, but it never does. I admit that part of beabadoobee's original appeal for me was her post-grunge take on bedroom pop, and that's just not as prevalent on this album as it is on her previous records. Solitude Standing feels like a dream from your childhood that you can't quite remember. There's a haze over this record that makes you feel like you might forget it soon after you listen--even though you really don't want to.
This was my first Suzanne Vega album, and it was interesting to start it off with an acapella version of the song that I'm sure everyone (including me) knows her for. I prefer the DNA remix of Tom's Diner, but I actually really enjoyed the ... read more
An acquaintance from high school gave me this CD as a thank you for me giving him a copy of Grace by Jeff Buckley. This album's okay. I think the best songs are the ones that lean more in the soft rock direction. Any attempt at something more "hard-core"" for lack of a better word, is pretty mediocre. Nonetheless, I appreciate this album for obviously the masterpieces that are Iris and Slide, but also for the fact that an old friend gifted it to me. Hope you're doing ... read more
