I liked the leitmotif used in the start of the first track and the end of the second one. Impress is very good once we get to the 6th minute. I wish I had more to say about worthless but I can't understand any of the words being spoken, English isn't even my native language so that makes it even harder, however the ending made me very uncomfortable and I fw that.
Slightest Bit Realistic is my fav one on this album, it aligns most with what I love in music :)
I tried buying this on ... read more
It's been exactly one year since the last time I've heard this album, which I gave it a rating of 60. Mezzanine sounds like an extremely edgy record, not in a bad way, it's a dark ambient to be in. Many songs here are about love and not-so-good relationships. "Teardrop" seemed way more interesting to me last year than it is now, I found it quite boring, the lyrics are really cool but the instrumental didn't have it's big moment. "Dissolved Girl" did ... read more
City pop is always a joyful, warm and cozy genre, just like the album cover. I feel very conflicted because half of the songs here are real bangers (First Light, September Rain, Love Was Really Gone and Sunset) but the other half I couldn't care less about them lol so yeah, masayoshi takanaka's albums feel more consistent so whenever I want to listen to city pop I'd preffer him BUT I apreciate the effort. This album feels more new wave and sentimental than others of this genre so ... read more
I really want to give a small explanation of each song but it's better to give a more generalized view on this record before the text wall. This album is centered on the narrative, and the different problems each character is involved with. It's also a requirement to explain that the characters are anthropomorphic animals, so yeah, this is furry content. One of the reasons I fell in love so hard with this album is because of how human the characters are and how relatable they are to ... read more
There's a significant language and culture barrier with this one since my only exposure to japanese culture is... EarthBound. About half of the album feels like sweet soothing melodies accompanied by these heavy, raw drums while the other half is more ambient, sad and aggressive guitar tones. This sounds like Shoegaze, if it really is shoegaze I'm surprised that japanese people are, not only aware of it, but they can create such a GOOD one. I think the only song that didn't catch ... read more
Another Genre I'm not familiar with. Apparently this is "plunderphonics" which has a cool name. Really reminds me of the danciest songs from early Daft Punk, a band that I've been listening to more than usual thanks to the fortnite event they participated in. This definitely raises the score. "Since I left You", "Live at Dominoes" and "Frontier Psychiatrist" are good, this last one has more of a hip hop vibe. It's technically pure ... read more
I came into this one very excited, I know basically nothing about hip hop culture but I read so many people talking good shit about this man. Definetely didn't dissapoint, "love" is unbelievable. Spanish is my native language so the verse in "Do it Now" on that fucked up spanish was very fun too. Strangely, "UMI Says" didn't hit like the other ones. I think my 2nd favourite song is the 15th track on this album which I think it's not culturally ... read more
I had to rewrite this whole thing because the power went out exactly before I saved it.
The buildup for the first song was good. Pools was the shit, very fitting with the "tribal" or "jungle" theme this album goes along with, the chorus is catchy and not annoying too. The Drum Break on Walla Walla was interesting, really built up that tension. This album has many influences, a bit of R&B and some jamie xx. Sadly, I find that type of music boring, I thought that maybe ... read more
This is really experimental I guess, I don't think I've heard rock music like this... Sadly this is not for me. Dissonance is a big theme here but I don't like the execution. The girls voice is really soothing and creepy sometimes, that's probably the most interesting thing about this record. The guitar solos on "Ugly Room" and "A Dog Says" throw me off completely, they sound goofy and out of place. The drums are always thinned out, minimalistic, nothing ... read more
The first song sounds like something straight from queens of the stone age. The rest of the album is mainly punk. "River" strongly reminded me of the strokes and its probably my fav song, the ending is so cool. The melody for "Cat Man" is so silly I couldn't take that song seriously lmao, "no way" was too a really weak song. This was still enjoyable, if you like this record I totally recommend Meth Wax - Meth Wax. I will listen to this one a few more times, so ... read more
The album cover is very pretty, so pretty in fact that I showed it to my mom since she loves oil paintings or whatever they're called like in english. She liked it too :).
This albums is pure instrumental, so it's hard to me to say which specific part of the song I liked unless I want to analyze its structure one by one, which I don't. I think a really big highlight to me is the bass guitar just right before the middle section of the song "sea dragon", I think it sides ... read more
I'm not too informed about music from the 1970s, my only experience with it really is The Beatles (though they are 60s), Queen and King Crimson. Everyone I've seen on the internet talk about Bob Dylan usually mentions "loud harmonicas" which I can't agree with, they are always very cool and not annoying. I also didn't know we had these type of song writing on the 1970s and quite fun to see how I can tell many of my favorite artists were probably inspired by this ... read more
yeah this is closer to fucking prog rock than anything else they've ever done this is so great, I don't see this one as a closer to the album like everyone else does but it would be amazing after Cottonwood.
I feel dirty trying to rate this album but this is so amazing. I'm impressed I made it far enough to being able to see the end of this story. We got the best ending, not one that makes me happy, but the one that best represents our fight with mental health. Now I know intentions are everything.
City walls, Center mass and Tally are BANGERS and I'm very content with the closing track. Never in my life I would've expected that
This was a wild experience and I'm laughing my ass off rn. So yeah, Fantano tweeted about this so I just listened to it without context. Initially I was wondering why was this so..... watery........ this album can be defined by water and metallic percussion. I was half asleep while listening to this and I think that made the experience 1000 times better because I would just start seeing visions of some weird ass things that were representing the sounds. If I ever take drugs (alcohol ... read more
An album that seems to have aligned with the popularity of RHCP and funk rock of the early 2000's that represented the side of rock that didn't want to side with the Nu Metal and pop punk era.
Really liked "This Love" of course and, surprisingly, I could really feel the rhythm on Tangled, that chorus hit harrrrd. Sunday morning is without a doubt the best song here, groovy, lovely, catchy and not annoying. Just after that Secret is a bit more jazzy and blues-y.
Very ... read more
So yeah I'm listening to this just because of the cool album cover.
Runner. 1 minute in and I am finding myself enjoying it very much. So very nice. okay so I've never watched stranger things because it doesn't appeal to me but I just found out one of the main actors from that series is the one doing all of this?? that's crazy. This is a very strong beginning I fucking love it, it reminds me of Daft Punk a little bit?
Gloom starts straight away with a dirty bassss, very tame ... read more
After having a surprisingly good experience with the green album I've decided to keep going on with the weezer discography! The album cover is firee
American Gigolo instantly turns into a very abrasive sound which reminds me of all mighty pinkerton, kinda shocking considering the album cover and the previous album.
Dope Nose DEFINETELY has a melody that I've heard before but I don't remember where. WHAT DO YOU MEAN FAG OF THE YEAR?? the guitar solo is so fun to listen to.
