McKinley Dixon - Magic, Alive!

my god this is one of the best things to ever happen to the universe ever since it got created.

drug bug - Hell for a Basement

y'know, the main reason why i'm so inactive is just because it's kinda hard to come up with words for music that don't sound cliched. like, what am i supposed to say to this out side of it sounding pretty? this isn't related to the record i'm just randomly venting

Big Black - Lungs

fairly bland. it's steve albini's first release in general so there's obviously gonna be some rough edges but i find the poor production and performances kill a lot of the songs here. it sounds soft compared to big black's later releases. steelworker is wonderful.

The Messthetics - Deface The Currency

really exciting jazz-rock album that constantly straddles the line between weird and groovy. the album introduces itself with the discordant title track before following it up with the slightly more conventional "gestations". amazing live record

the songs here are just even better than the studio versions and the banter is always great to hear

Grover Washington, Jr. - Winelight

absurdly, sickeningly boring. there's only about 1.5 actually interesting songs here and the rest is just inoffensive supermarket drivel. the entire thing is carried by just the two of us, the rest of it is just really boring saxophone playing over some of the most sterile rhythms ever made. i've had more fun hanging laundry than listening to this album.

Storm & Stress - Under Thunder and Fluorescent Lights

i went into this, reading the free improv genre, expecting some very load and chaotic but this was actually pretty calm and beautiful

the first time i listened to it, i decided to play it again, it was that good
