Usually, I'm not very much into Xiu Xiu. It may be a bit too experimental for me at times. But I always give their albums a spin whenever they release new stuff. One of my favourite albums of this year. While I do believe SCARING THE HOES and LP! are better albums and sounded better on the first listen, this album is yet another solid project from JPEGMAFIA and contains some of my favorite songs of his. Despite JPEG digging further into this new direction by introducing more rock elements, it is probably the most commercially listenable album he has created. And it fucking works! Wow...
Hands down one of the best, if not the best, synth-pop album of this decade. Amazing lush synths, groovy well-recorded drums and some crazy guitar riffs here and there. All this adds up to an incredibly creative experience. I'm so overwhelmed by how good this album sounds, but equally by how strong the musicianship is on this album. What a journey.
