This has some new takes on what you’d traditionally see on Korean ballad records, but it does begin to get stale after a little bit. Overall not too bad, maybe needs a relisten?
REVIEW FOR MARCH 12TH
I don't even care about the performative allegations anymore she makes incredible music and I won't hear otherwise.
Also adding The Marias onto this is probably one of the best collab decisions I've ever seen
Okay this album is definitely gonna be revisited because I wasn't in the right headspace for this at all. I appreciate some of the tracks on here and I do actually like most of it, but take this rating at face value because I'm certain I'd like this more on another day.
why does this actually bang
best track: stateside
worst track: intermission
They've done it again.
Mass Of The Fermented Dregs are slowly becoming one of my favourite bands, simply because of their first two records that I've listened to. While I do prefer World Is Yours, I can't deny how great this is, especially for a debut album.
Best Track: エンドロール
Worst Track: ベアーズ
I'm being so deadass my soul started ascending when I heard that second track. After all those years of hearing it but never knowing what it's from I FINALLY know what it is.
Best Track: Aoi, Koi, Daidaiiro No Hi
Worst Track: N/A
Underrated Track: Nan Nan (very close second to track 2)
Admittedly I listened to this album because I heard Distant Lover on socials and wanted to see where it came from. Somehow that was my first experience with Marvin Gaye and I feel a little disappointed that I've been missing out on his music all of my life because this is genuinely incredible. His music carries such a strong emotion that I can't help but resonate with personally, almost like a longing for something you can't have. Definitely gonna be checking out the rest of his ... read more
Ok we're back from the downward spiral those previous albums were heading towards.
I love K-Ballad so much. If you're considering getting into South Korean music I 1000% recommend starting with this genre, just straight bangers.
After revisiting this record I've now come to realise that I was being too harsh to Nick Drake. I originally shrugged this album off as one of those things that social media overly hype up for the sake of appearing more niche or knowledgeable in music, but I now realise that I was being ignorant for no apparent reason. This record is Nick Drake's final testament to music and you can really feel it, the bleakness of his voice and lyrics are so striking that the music feels like more of ... read more
Easily one of my greatest finds.
My first ever Brazilian album and one that I surprisingly found through a remixed version of one of his songs (aruarian dance by Nujabes). This Latin jazz record is seriously unreal, the smooth jazz is so peaceful that you just get lost in it.
Best Track: The Lamp Is Low
Worst Track: N/A they're all incredible
This is genuinely the rawest shit I've ever heard. Serious soul-crushing stuff.
Okay I'm sorry to anyone who loves this but I really didn't have a pleasurable experience with this. Maybe I'm not massive on the genre, or maybe not on their sound, but all I got from this record was a massive headache. Most likely gonna need to revisit this in the future but for now it's receiving an ok score.
