Man, I haven’t felt this disappointed in a release in a very long time. The snippet they kept sharing on social media was straight-up heat, and they knew it. The rest of the song? Straight-up shit.
I genuinely can’t listen to the chorus; that’s how much I dislike it. The only two redeemable things about this release are the second verse they shared and the overall beat. Everything else is just not it.
To be fair, I enjoyed this demo more than their proper release. It’s very similar in style, but there’s just something more “raw” about it that makes me enjoy it a bit more. Where the proper release feels a bit more polished and restrained, this demo has a rougher edge that gives the riffs more character. If you told me that this EP had been released more than 25 years ago, I would wholeheartedly believe you. This is a perfect recreation of what beatdown sounded like in the late ’90s and early ’00s. If that’s something you’re looking for, great - you’ll enjoy this short EP from start to finish.

You know those made-up games that only exist inside TV shows? This sounds like the music equivalent: royalty-free gangsta rap made to instantly tell the audience, “this guy is a gangster with a past.” Absolutely mid.
Underscores was never on my radar, and neither was hyperpop, to be honest. Up until now, I’d only heard one hyperpop record, and it was one of the worst things that ever graced my ears, so I was a bit skeptical about the genre as a whole.
