On her debut album, Chxrry stuns with pretty vocals showing her range but this is juxtaposed by the huge lyrical flaws in this album. The lyrics are close to abominable. I would argue that they are more than questionable, with them being not well thought out or clever. Instead, most of them should’ve stayed in the drafts as rough ideas rather than making up the body of your work. The production is flavourless and Chxrry does nothing to make herself stand out as an R&B/Pop artist. Also ... read more
I think this is a good album.
Nothing more but maybe decent at worst.
Contextually, Kim Petras has struggled both sonically and creatively due to no fault of her own but the fault of an exploitative, controlling label. Therefore, after leaving her label, this is an opportunity to make an album that is her own, a greatly authentic album. Only half of that is true. While I don’t doubt that she is happy with the output of this album (because she wouldn’t have released it otherwise) ... read more
might be one of ariana’s worst lead singles. the production is so flavourless it’s pissing me off. there’s some good lyrics here and there but in the chorus… it literally does nothing. there’s not even that much to the production at all and even ariana’s performance on the track is so bland compared to her previous works. what a safe single. also this song just sounds like it could be on eternal sunshine. disappointed but not surprised.
So much potential!!! The lyrics are emotionally captivating in its messaging and execution as seen through this electro-pop fusion. Tori Ko-Ko seems to have a good eye for a chorus with this reminding me of Girl so confusing, with the lyrics being so raw and despondent simultaneously with the atmospheric, kind of clubby production. The feelings that she projects are kind of heartbreaking to be honest. It consists of insecurity, doubt, harm to oneself. This results in a culmination of relatable, ... read more
Disappointed but not surprised. First 2 tracks showed a promising shift in direction to more latin inspired track. I found these tracks fun, flirty but on Cha cha cha I wasn’t a big fan of the chorus. But most of these other tracks feel like lesser versions of songs Bruno has made in the past, with the production while being vibrant and lush, is also too similar to what has already been made, resulting in more uninteresting listens. What I will say is that Bruno is a gorgeous vocalist, ... read more
Interlude: the album, came away liking the longer songs at the end but was not enough to hook me unfortunately, most of these songs are like shards of good ideas that could culminate into something good if they were extended
The more I listen.. the more flipping confused I am. This album is kinda a mess sonically, from reggae, to afrobeats, to r&b… she definitely has not found her sound or what fits her as an artist , i find this album very anonymous. to the title, the album cover, it seems like an attempt to be edgy or weird but really i don’t get sense of her personality or her identity as an artist. Maybe a decent song here and there but even those feel like weak attempts of trying different ... read more
Not too familiar with Converge but this was a good listen! Metals not usually the genre I turn to but there is so much energy put into this album, from the riffs, the screams, the lyrics. Absolute chaos and life in the best way. I was a bit harsh on it at first as I believed this to just be a bit standard but on further listens, this album was genuinely good, hope it grows on me more! Amon Amok is INSANE btw
Lifeless, boring. Nothing interesting about what he’s singing about. Not terrible but truly devoid of any meaning or feeling.
