I vibed with the hooks much more on this than No Hands. While No Hands might have higher highs, I think that Punk Tactics was just more consistent fun and energy for me. Joey and Brae are just having fun and that's great.
I like the production and their energy and lyrics are fun but some of the songs feel too repetitive. Would've preferred more verses than the hook being used so many times in some songs. Overall still pretty good.
My first full listen of the year and what a phenomenal one to start on. The use of distorted voices and so much ambience built up how disturbing this album is. Being hypnotized by every little sound and addition to each and every track and falling into a sort of trance while listening makes the silence at the very end piercing and it almost feels wrong. Repetition of lines is another large strength here. The phrase "I love you" said over and over again by a distorted voice for a whole ... read more

All the beats are incredibly hard and Killer Mike & El-P have unmatched chemistry, especially when they have shorter verses going back and forth on songs like the title track. Both also delivery phenomenal performances in their own respects. Didn't know what to expect coming into this, only having heard a feature or two from this duo, but goddamn it was fantastic.
Great production and versatile performance from Peggy. However I do feel like there was some missed potential on some of the songs namely because of their short length. I liked the constant style switching in the first half of the album, and I liked the second half being way more calm the whole time but I think that committing to either one of these for the entire time would've benefitted it, at least for me. Still overall very good.
At the very beginning of this album I was ready to put this right next to MM..FOOD. A solid album that just didn't resonate with me as much as it did others. But slowly as the tracks went on and on I found myself liking it more and more. Despite the fact I don't like MF DOOM's voice as much as others do, I find that he works extremely well with Madlib production, personally I think even moreso than his own production. Not to mention that Madlib's production is absolutely ... read more
