This album is equal parts highs and lows for me; however, the lows are just nondescript background music rather than outright bad, which puts this at a safe positive for me. Night Writer and Hammerstrings are the highlights and Mobius Cakes and Windsong are also interesting,
The vibes are immaculate. Incredible album that was nearly forgotten to time. Thanks to Bomb Rush Cyberfunk for putting this on the map. The songs are crunchy, atmospheric, and lonely and connect so well to each other. The way the songs move between distorted, harsh elements and soft, sweet, and slow melodies makes it feel like toeing the line between a dream and a nightmare.
The value of this album for me lies in the preservation of a lot of tpz’s history of an artist and a history of his contribution to rhythm games. It’s hard to look at this album objectively as a lot of them songs are horribly dated and not great, but are incredibly nostalgic and still fun to play.
The two remixes of Crystal Gravity are rather unnecessary but they’re a fun listen at least. This album isn’t anything impressive, but if you’re going into it with an understanding of the rhythm game scene, it’s enjoyable.
A much needed departure from the increasingly standard Juggernaut. sound. Each song on this EP has distinct flair and breathes like into Juggernaut.'s discography.
