KiloWatts - Acceptitude
75

This album is equal parts highs and lows for me; however, the lows are just nondescript background music rather than outright bad, which puts this at a safe positive for me. Night Writer and Hammerstrings are the highlights and Mobius Cakes and Windsong are also interesting,

KiloWatts - Problem/Solving

The vibes are immaculate. Incredible album that was nearly forgotten to time. Thanks to Bomb Rush Cyberfunk for putting this on the map. The songs are crunchy, atmospheric, and lonely and connect so well to each other. The way the songs move between distorted, harsh elements and soft, sweet, and slow melodies makes it feel like toeing the line between a dream and a nightmare.

t+pazolite - The Best of tpz 2 the Best!!!
50

The value of this album for me lies in the preservation of a lot of tpz’s history of an artist and a history of his contribution to rhythm games. It’s hard to look at this album objectively as a lot of them songs are horribly dated and not great, but are incredibly nostalgic and still fun to play.

Tanchiky & Siromaru - Gravisphere Crisis

The two remixes of Crystal Gravity are rather unnecessary but they’re a fun listen at least. This album isn’t anything impressive, but if you’re going into it with an understanding of the rhythm game scene, it’s enjoyable.

Juggernaut. - God Slain

A much needed departure from the increasingly standard Juggernaut. sound. Each song on this EP has distinct flair and breathes like into Juggernaut.'s discography.

Laur - Stigma

This EP appears to be a collection of a few leftover singles that didn’t fit into any previous album, and I would be worried that I would be worn out by unremarkable gothic hardcore songs and another entry in the “Viyella” series of songs.
“What is Viyella Dreaming About?” was quite the enjoyable listen and I started looking forward to the rest of the songs. However, “Invader” is one of the most shockingly bad songs I have heard, especially coming from ... read more

Kobaryo - Vicious [ANTi] Heroism
65

The fantastic cover art for this album carries this release. While the song is high energy and punchy and can deliver a dose of chaotic hardcore energy when needed, I find it unremarkable among Kobaryo’s discography and not particularly distinct other than a rather unneeded second long jazz genre switch up. Certainly it doesn’t sound vicious or anti-heroic in any way to any person used to hardcore genres.

Juggernaut. - Immortal
75

On paper, there’s a lot of things to like about this album. Juggernaut. has steadily improved their mixing and this album is incredibly cohesive in theming and sound. The standout tracks are the title track, Immortal, and Genesis, which are both fun, punchy tracks that contribute to the atmosphere of the album. The other songs support the headliners and add to the atmosphere of the listen. However, while the songs all sound good, Juggernaut. fatigue is setting in with this release and I ... read more

Juggernaut. - Siegfried

This album has a very grand, heroic theme which elevates Juggernaut.'s sound into something very memorable. Each song is enjoyable and distinct. Xeon is my personal favorite, with the switches between hardstyle/raw bass sections and the catchy melody striking a balance that feels rewarding to the listener.

Juggernaut. - Distorted Heavens

Solid, safe EDM album. Most songs don't really stand out as notable or exceptional, but there's also nothing outright terrible or deserving of consistent skipping when listening through. I think the collaboration track with Gram, Seraphim, is most definitely the highlight with Juggernaut.'s standard EDM sound and Gram's gothic hardcore style merged well to create a much more memorable album.

Flower Girl And The Forces Of Love - BOOMBOXLOVERS
70

Solid future funk album with a strong magical girl aesthetic that always makes for a comfortable, head bopping listen. It doesn't rely on done to death samples and keeps its runtime concise and to the point, so that no song drags or feels like unnecessary bloat.

Carpenter Brut - TRILOGY
85

The cohesive theme and aesthetic of this album is so distinctive to Carpenter Brut it makes for an unforgettable and iconic listening experience. I find some songs can drag a bit; however, there is so much to appreciate in the narrative samples and the building of atmosphere and setting. I can almost see the 80's slasher films and Twilight Zone episodes when listening to this album and I think that is what makes this album so strong

かめりあ [Camellia] - Planet//Shaper
75

While admittedly, I don't the think the sound of this album is for everyone and objectively, this is one of Camellia's weaker albums, I personally enjoy the sound that this album went for. Some of the songs are grating and there are definite low lights in the album like Paleolithic Period Wobble Bass, but I genuinely appreciate how cohesively themed this album is and the risks it took in departing from Camellia's usual sound. The narrative introduction is indicative of. this commitment and ... read more

かめりあ [Camellia] - Blackmagik Blazing

Incredibly memorable album that never fails to get me energized. Camellia's choices of samples still sometimes make me double take (i.e. the discord ping sample in Circles of Death); however, the highlights far outshine these moments of awkwardness. The album is generally cohesive in sound and has a great vibe going. Lastly, Night Raid with a Dragon clears so hard.

かめりあ [Camellia] - U.U.F.O.
95

Edited

While its easy to see Camellia for the meme samples, very internet-core references, and lack of cohesion and story in his work (I still find myself cringing at discord ping samples and the DK 64 rap), this album has come to represent so much more than its flaws and scattered jump from genre to genre. Every single song on this album (according to Camellia's official YouTube upload of this album) represents a different subgenre of EDM/hardcore electronic music and that's something that I ... read more

かめりあ [Camellia] - 灰の羽搏 (Ashed Wings)

The album has a few highlights, but overall the album feels messy and not as cohesive as past albums. I find myself comparing this closely with Planet Shaper, as some of the songs share the same ethereal feeling; however, Ashed Wings feels like a step back from songs like Flying in the Flow of Deep-Sea. The features on the album also feel weaker than those present on U.U.F.O. In general, this album feels like filler. Nothing is bad and I have them all in my playlist, but there's also not a ... read more
