This is a well crafted sedate album with gorgeous structure. Apex Twin, Werewolf are standouts
beautiful guitar plucking. kind of outsider folk. Sparse. Voice is an acquired taste. 1st song too small for eyes has a very nice progression. solemn. nice string instruments. Songs get better. More dynamic. I hear many things but can't entirely place influences, and tat is a good thing. Cat Power comes to mind.
lush production. just seems to be lacking that Beta Band creativity that I enjoyed so much.
I haven't listened to Low in awhile, so don't know how they have evolved over time, but I really dig the synthetic drum sound to go along with their richly textured, pensive slowcore rock. Very pretty.
This usually isn't my thing but I found this irrestible. There is a sense of old blue eyed soul in the bones of these songs along with a great use of organ that fleshes out these songs into something more than a one time listen.
