Such an eclectic mix of aspects loosely or directly related to the ocean that all work so beautifully together. Bounces around so much in theme and topic that nothing that I'm less interested in overstays its welcome, and it's this wonderful transient overseas experience.
I wish I could give better analysis than 'this shit sounds magical' but I've had it on loop and on my mind since I heard it a few days ago. Just absolutely kills it the second it starts, and the guitar is so infectious.

I think Wide Awake is one side of the same dance-punk coin - the other half being Viagra Boys' Cave World. The latter is a feverish synth-driven satire of the alt-right (and the frontman's past), whereas this is an indie-rock marriage between anger and joy in the face of contemporary life. Both juxtapose with one another in style and substance to hit home how it can feel in the modern age to beautiful effect.
This album took a couple of months for me to really sit down and properly get into; I'd been looking for some contemporary Dance-Punk to sink my teeth into that wasn't LCD Soundsystem, and Baby Criminal's abrasive and blatant nature meant I found Wide Awake by Parquet Courts a far easier album to fall into and love.
