This album was honestly pretty solid for what I was expecting. The only other song I know from Porter Robinson is Musician, which if I am being honest, seems really obnoxious to me, so I didn't fully know what to expect going into this. I will say this album is very happy (sounding) and playful, but I think it almost falls into the playful side too much, to the point where it kinda sounds childish, which honestly put me off a lot of the noises. With that being said, the production on this ... read more
I think I expected a bit too much from this album. As much as indie rock goes i didn't really notice anything too special and the vocals just kinda felt miserable. The lyrics seemed like they tried too hard to be meaningful and I guess I just didn't really care enough for it to really make me emotional, making it a bit obnoxious at times. It definitely created the vibe and atmosphere I expected, and I enjoyed basically every song, but its just kinda forgettable and boring at some ... read more
After hearing Kellin Quinn on “King For a Day” I knew I would have to check out Sleeping With Sirens at some point. This is a very good emo rock album, its consistency is great, but there wasn’t really any songs that stood out to me. One thing I will say is that Kellins voice is so unique, not very many post-hardcore bands hit notes as high as this and the femininity in his voice is something I have never really heard before, and while I can see it being a bit too whiny at ... read more
I don’t wanna be too harsh rating this album as I did enjoy it, but it’s such a different style to other PTV albums I can’t help but feel slightly underwhelmed by it. I knew this album would be a lot calmer than the other PTV albums, but I didn’t really expect the almost pop like songs that are present. The first 2 songs are really good, they feel energetic, and what you would expect from PTV, but after that a very different vibe is present. I really don’t dislike ... read more
First things first, this is a brilliant debut album. It’s consistently good and I wouldn’t say there are any boring parts on this album, the only problem is that the highs on other PTV albums are lot higher than the highs on this album, but that’s to be expected for a first album. I don’t really have too much to say other than this is a good album, if you like emo rock or any of PTVs other work definitely check this out.
