I am he, as you are me and we are all together

Fascinatingly unusual sound for Chicago, blending jazz, rock, blues and soul all together to come up with a diverse, experimental and virtuoso double-LP debut. The material present here is one that can—and will—easily impress you, especially when you reach the outstanding jam tracks, like "Poem 58", "I'm a Man" or "Liberation", for these are infected with hard rock elements, tight musicianship and a ... read more

The most aggressive—yet ethereal—record to be released. "First Utterance" combines two of my favorite genres (progressive rock + folk) and add a sinister atmosphere and a shitload of malice, bringing life the music incarnation of Satan himself. In spite of its beautiful flute passages and masterful violin work, Comus' debut LP is a dreadful experience, ready to tear you to pieces if you're even 1% unprepared to embark on its journey. Well, it's a solid record, it kicks things off strongly, with a great run from "Beetlebum" to "You're So Great" (with onnly "M.O.R." tainting it a bit), but from "Death of a Party" to "Look Inside America", it just sounds so uninteresting and uneven. "Strange News from Another Star" barely saves itself due to its nince build-up and outro. I appreciate the diversity, it was super nice trying to guess what the hell was the band ... read more

James Gang - Rides Again

A multifaceted rock album, "Rides Again" delivers dynamic range, impressive musicianship (especially when it comes to the rhythm section) and an interesting blend of funk, blues, folk, country and rock. It's a consistently engaging record, it keeps a great balance between hard-hitting riffs with more melodic, sophisticated and reflective moments. Maybe not every track reaches the same height, but the LP's versatility and energy keeps you interested and thirsty for more ... read more

Oh my God... I finally get it...

After YEARS of only listening to selected Prince songs, I finally listened to one of his albums, and holy shit... I wish I had done htis sooner. Prince's debut album oozes confidence and light, being an absolute joy to listen to, especially with tracks such as "Soft and Wet", a playful, quirky, upbeat R&B/funk tune; "Baby", a charming and touching soul number, or "My Love Is Forever", which relies *heavily* on disco and ... read more
