What the hell, this album is definitely better than a 71/100, aoty. Gets better with repeated listens too, which is why I upgraded my score. Can't wait to see what she does next.

Written with BOYS NOIZE, as another user said, "TECHNO NIN FUCKS." Yes, the vocoder vocals are absolutely a reference to Daft Punk's previous Tron soundtrack. Is that not completely bloody obvious? I literally burst out laughing in the first 20 seconds, which is the only reason I was able to give this a five. Imagine, I dunno, an awful action movie soundtrack complete with booms and swooshes plus the delicate emotions of a Cure song. This is so far beyond melodramatic Hollywood cheesiness it's hard to quantify. Except with a five. For the lols. I am disappointed in myself for writing that last sentence.
You're probably not going to get what you want out of this, but it's still amazing. AS have a habit of forcing you to reckon with what they've produced rather than giving your brain what it wants to hear.
Imagine some ungodly combination of Arca, Too Dark Park-Skinny Pupppy, Sophie, Autechre, auto-tuned post-industrial Ye-ish pop vocals (surprisingly strong), and a hint of Aphex Twin in a minimal blender (how can a blender be minimal?), and you've got the musical paradox that is Tearless.
