The lyrics are kind of clunky, though, given that I can tell an undercurrent of mysticism runs through them; I can accept some vagueness or incomprehensibility as simple idiosyncrasy. Great songs, and it's a real treat to see how much shit they can cram into these. The shorter songs are probably the better songs, because they're always unpredictable. However, while the songs are great, it's still eleven tracks that are largely pretty similar. There's no real natural opener and closer, and at 31 minutes, that lack of variability is a bit of an issue. Finally, I got around to listening to this goddamn album. Christ, all this discourse about Geese is awful, just awful, and it takes away from the music, which is a real shame because I think this album is just delightful. I found out about this band through a KEXP performance, and I thought they totally killed it, bringing such savage ferocity and a white-hot energy. Because I liked what I heard, I decided to check this album out, and... it's good. I am honestly a bit disappointed, because, really, that KEXP performance was fucking shining white and bright.
